Conferences will be held on February 15 & 16. Please plan on having your child attend the conference as well. We want students to take ownership for their learning and take part in this reflective aspect of their learning.
Homerooms are collecting Box Tops, Campbell's, & Tyson labels. The 6th grade homeroom that brings in the most labels by February 10 wins a pizza party. Please help support Frederick School by having your child bring in these labels.
This week students are working on a formal lab report. The rough draft is due on Wednesday, February 8. We will peer edit the rough drafts in class. Then the final draft is due on Friday, February 10.
Students will have a test on chapter 1 on Tuesday, February 14. Students will receive a study guide on February 7 explaining what will be on the test. For the test, students will be required to use a triple beam balance, beaker, graduated cylinder, and meter stick. These are all instruments we used in science class several times.
Social Studies:
We are already excited about our study of Greece. We are learning about Sparta and Athens. This is exciting stuff! There are no tests in the near future. Students should continue reviewing the 7 continents and 4 oceans for upcoming tests.
Language Arts / Literature for Ms. Leon's Class:
We are currently working on a narrative story giving details about a particular event. We will be typing final drafts in the media center this coming Wednesday using the new computers we got in our lab! We began reading
Tuck Everlasting last Wednesday and hope to finish it before parent teacher conferences. We are focusing on figurative language - similes, metaphors, idioms, personification, and hyperboles. Students should continue working on their Hooked On Books project. The second set of books is due on Friday, February 24th.
