    Language Arts/Literature

    Welcome to my language arts and literature (reading) class! We will be doing a lot of different reading and writing activities this year. We will explore a variety of genres in both reading and writing using a variety of sources. Be prepared to read a lot and be CREATIVE!

    Supplies you will need on a daily basis for success in language arts and literature class this year:
    • pencil with eraser
    • red correcting pen
    • 2 spiral notebooks (one for Language Arts and one for Literature)
    • 2 folders (one for Language Arts and one for Literature)
    • post it notes
    • highlighters (at least 3 different colors)
    • your Treasures textbook (there will be weeks when we are reading novels that you won't need to bring to class)
    • novel of your choice
    You will also need the following at various times throughout the year (leave in locker):
    • markers and/or other coloring tools
    • scissors
    • glue
    • notecards

    We will be using our basal series "Treasures", whole class novels, poetry books, read alouds, and choice independent reading books to explore the different genres. We will do a variety of writing including personal narratives, poetry, and persuasive essays. We will also be working on improving our grammar and spelling through weekly lessons and activities.
