RESPECT: My number one expectation for class is respect. Respect for yourself and respect for others (peers and teachers) are essential in creating a classroom environment in which we all feel safe and comfortable. If each of you shows respect in my classroom, I anticipate a very successful year.
Playing Cards: We will be coming up with rules and expectations as a class. Because we are all responsible for creating the rules and expectations, we must all take responsibility to follow them. To ensure that everyone “plays their cards right,” if someone is not following through with our expectations, they will receive a playing card on their desk. This notifies the student that they are breaking a rule and will need to speak with me after class. Consequences will be based on the situation.
Materials Required: Everyone must have a 3-subject spiral notebook and folder to keep your science information organized. It is helpful to have this spiral divided for each of our units and it must be used for science class only. A folder is also necessary to keep all of your materials together.
Bellringer: After entering the classroom and turning in any homework to the proper bin, you must get started on the bellringer. You will write the answers to these on your weekly bellringer sheets. The date must be written for each day’s question and we will collect the bellringers every 4 weeks.
Missing Work: You will complete every assignment in this class. If you turn in work late, you will lose 10% a day. Work will only be accepted within a unit. You will receive no credit if you turn in work after the unit is tested.
Absences:
As eighth graders, you are responsible for gathering all of the work you have
missed. There is a whiteboard posted with dates of when work was assigned and
copies will be placed in the “missing something” bin.
Under the missing something bin is where I will place all of the work I receive
with no name. If you find you do not have a grade for an assignment, check this
bin!
Lab License: Once you pass your lab safety exam, you will receive a lab license. If you fail to follow the lab rules, your license will be punched. If you receive 3 punches, you will no longer be able to participate in labs.
Lab Make-ups: If you miss a lab, you must come see me to discuss how to make it up. Depending on the lab, you will either need to schedule a time to come in and make it up, or you will complete a lab make-up assignment found in the “missing something” bin.
Tardies: You are expected to be in class and prepared on time. I will keep track of when you are tardy. 3 tardies will result in a detention.

Website:
Team 8 Blue’s webpage can be accessed through the GMS webpage. The team’s main
page will have homework assignments for the week. I will post general
information on my page as well as class notes. The posted class notes are meant
for students who may be absent on a day that notes were taken and will not replace taking notes in class, as
note taking is an important skill we will be working on.
