CONCESSIONS
Attention parents, we are looking for volunteers to help run the concession stand at our girls basketball games. If you are interested in helping out, and are available on any of the following dates: September 30th, October 4th, or October 5th, please contact Amy Corey (corey.amy@d46.orgor 847-543-5887) or Ellen Bergstrom (bergstrom.ellen@d46.orgor 847-543-5851) to sign up.
CONFERENCES
Today the staff of GMS began our Goal Setting Conference preparation. Remember that our first round of conferences take place on October 6 and 7th. Just as we've done in past years, this conference will revolve around two activities. First, your child's homeroom teacher will share many pieces of assessment data with you. This data will include this fall's MAP test score, last year's ISAT score, and a projected 2011 ISAT score. We use all of this data at GMS to ensure that we differentiate for and appropriate place your student into core and encore classes. The second part of your conference will revolve around the process of goal setting with your child for the upcoming school year. We expect great things from each GMS student and will help him/her to achieve all of the goals set at this conference. In the coming weeks, your child's team of teachers will be sending information about our upcoming conferences, we look forward to meeting with you.
GMS Literary Magazine Information:
We encourage all GMS students to submit their writing, poetry, and/or drawing to be included in our literary magazine. Please see the forms below for submission and purchase information.

GMS Family Reading Night:
Please see the below attachment for information about our upcoming family reading night. We encourage all students and parents to join us for a fun and education evening of discussion and activities.

8th Grade Parents, Please Read:
The Washington, DC trip information went home with students on Tuesday. The trip will be June 8-11, 2011 and will include a side trip to Philadelphia. The cost of the trip is $889. There will be an informational meeting held on Wednesday, September 29th at 6:30 pm in the GMS Library for any one who is interested or has questions. Please ask your child for the information that they received from their History teacher. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Corey at

PowerSchool Portal
The PowerSchool Parent Portal is now open. This
parent portal will give you access to your child's grades in order for you to
track their academic progress throughout the school year. You should have
received your Username and Password with the registration packet you picked up
in early August. If you need another copy, please contact the Middle School
office and we can mail you another copy or you can stop by the office and pick
it up in person. For security reasons, we will not e-mail the information or
send it home with your child.

Thank you to many parents for the return on "JOIN" the directors e-mail list. It's not to late to receive important information home by e-mail. LITTLE CAESARS KICK-OFF SALE BEGINS THIS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD!!
WOW! WHAT A GREAT DEAL TO BUILD YOUR OWN PIZZA KITS AND MORE!
All GMS choir and band students have received their "Little Caesars" activity. Please look for the information for them to bring home.
All return student forms must be received back to the directors by Wednesday, October 13th. This includes all order forms and money.
Delivery date is set for Wednesday, October 27th between 3:30 until 6:00 p.m. in the GMS multipurpose room.
Uniform fittings are now complete for our GMS band and choir students.
Parents all new uniforms have been order. Please make sure that all payments have been turned into your choral or band director.
"Oklahoma" auditions begin Monday, September 27th.
Students who are interested in auditioning for the cast of "Oklahoma" will attend a singing and dance clinic on Monday, September 27th from 3:30-4:30
Auditions will take place 9/28,9/29 and 9/30. Final cast will be posted on Monday, October 4th.
Students who are interested in the Pit-Band or Stage Crew are to complete an application and turn into the director by Wednesday, September 29th.
