Our musical in March was a great success! A few students had instrumental or voice solos! Here are some pictures of our class!

AUTHORS' TEA~
Here are some pictures from our Author's Tea! The children shared their books with classmates and enjoyed donuts and juice!

WISH LIST: Here are a few things we would like for our classroom!
Our classroom is hoping to obtain extra snacks (pretzels, etc.) some alphabet stencils, funky pens for writers' workshop, funky pointers for reading, and small prizes that the students can purchase when they "get paid" on Fridays using our debit/credit log system! We are also looking for books and books on tape for us to use for center time. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR HELPING US!
MYSTERY READERS: There are many dates available for parents to come be a mystery reader in our classroom! Please let me know if you are interested. We usually try to plan a mystery reader for each Friday that school is in session from 1:50-2:05 p.m. The children love to see their parents and are so surprised!!!!
Here are some pictures of mystery readers we have had in the past:
Mrs. Parmer, Brendan's mother:

Hunter's Grandma:

Mrs. Connet, MaryJo's mom

Mrs. Kern, Seja's mom

Mr. Kern, Seja's dad

WE HAVE BEGUN OUR COMPOST PILE!!! The children are sooo excited! We learned that for every "green" item you place in the pile, a brown item also needs to be added. For example, we added banana peels, apple cores, and other organic food items, however, we found out that we either need to cover it with brown leaves or soil in order for decomposition to occur!
CLASSROOM JOBS: Students in our room will have jobs every other week. The children are doing a great job of being responsible with their daily tasks!
Environmental News Distributor: Responsible for passing out important papers.
Green Thumb Manager: Responsible for water our classroom plants and the plants in the pod.
Compost Manager: Responsible for collecting organic food waste during lunch.
Conservation Officer: Responsible for turning off lights when we do not need them.
Environmental News Reporter: Responsible for reporting environmental news to our school via PVTV. (This person will also be our Environmentalist of the Week.)
Health Manager: Responsible for distributing hand sanitizer to classmates to prevent the spread of germs and sicknesses.
Green Guides: Responsible for leading the class through the "streets" of Prairieview.
Recycling Manager: Responsible for making sure that recyclables get placed into our recycling bin.
HERE ARE SOME PICTURES FROM THE CRAYON RECYCLING PROGRAM WE ARE WORKING ON WITH PRAIRIE CROSSING MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS! The children made sun catchers from old crayons we had in our classroom. The middle school students are encouraging the children in our class to bring old crayons from home so they can send them to a recycling center. They showed us a powerpoint presentation about the importance of recycling crayons.
