    Research Resources

    In the media center, we strive to teach the students how to identify reliable sources of information.  Students learn to look at the ending of a URL and also try to identify if the person or organization posting the information has any authority on the subject.  After all, any person in the world can post whatever they want on the internet.

    Here are some of the trusted sources we like to use for our research:

    Encyclopedia Britannica Online    user name and password are both  grayslakesd .


    We also like to use some of the online databases available through the Grayslake Area Public Library.  To use these sources from any computer, students just need a Grayslake Area Library card number.
    CultureGrams is useful when looking up information about different countries.
    Grolier Online Kids is another online encyclopedia
    Searchasaurus and Kids Search are both databases that search magazine articles for students
