Concussions Aren't Just Sports Injuries

Concussions don't just happen in sports, but in casual play as well! More and more kids are suffering from concussions without realizing the signs and symptoms that can be dangerous. The desire to stay in the game or continuing to play prevents them from coming forward with their symptoms.

Common signs of a concussion can be, but not limited to:

  • Sleepiness
  • Headache that won't go away
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light or to computer screens (including cell phones and TV)
  • Muscle weakness
  • Sensitive to sound, loud noise

Encourage your children to share with you if they received a head injury and the dangers of not telling an adult when they don't feel good afterwards.

Should your student receive a head injury here at school, a letter sent home and/or a phone call will notify you, depending on the severity. Let's work together to keep our noggins safe!
